The creative process involved in Paul's representational and figurative work differs little from his abstract work in that once the process of creating the image has begun the decision-making criteria are based again on the set of rules determined by the medium involved and the decisions made based on that and compositional requirements. The fact that the marks are orchestrated to conform to an observed subject is incidental. The problem remains to complete the picture as required by the process.
